Ash Primary School Partnership
We really appreciate all of the schools who partner with us, so let’s get to know more about them and our partnership. Today we are looking at Ash School in Ash near Martock. Ash Primary is a rural Church of England School, set in beautiful grounds. They have 112 children from Reception to Year 6. All of the children are motivated and display fantastic behaviours for learning, with many of them playing sports outside of school and partaking in extra-curricular clubs that they run.
TLE and Ash Primary school found each other through the headteacher of Ash Primary. Melissa, the headteacher, had previously worked with TLE at Brookside Academy in Street and understands the importance of role models within PE. This is a new partnership, only standing at about six weeks as this is written, whereby Melissa contacted Jarrad in early November 2025 and we started running provision there in January 2026.
We have five coaches that work within the school, and this is what they all said about their time there.
Mr Cave, Jarrad, shared his feelings about the partnership saying, “Ash has been a fantastic addition to our growing number of schools this term. The children are very welcoming and very enthusiastic about PE. The year 3 and 4 class have been receptive to new ideas and created some very unique gymnastics routines.”
Mr Bromham, Jack, shared his feelings about the partnership saying, “Ash has been great! The children and staff are very friendly and welcoming. The children have shown they are hardworking and will always give everything 100% effort.”
Mr Emery, Fletcher, shared his feelings about the partnership saying, “I believe I have a has a positive start to life teaching within Ash, due to the very friendly and welcoming staff and teachers who has provided lots of help and support. The children have been amazing to work with and willing to learn which has made a very strong start to building a great partnership”
Mr Wonham, George, shared his feelings about the partnership saying, “So far, I have been really impressed with the ability and behaviour of the children at Ash, and it has been a joy to teach there.”
Mr Gilby, Sam, shared his feelings about the partnership saying, “I have loved working at Ash, the environment is very positive, and the children are very enthusiastic. The year 6 class are excellent with a variety of abilities and favourite sports, each child has something different to give.”
The headteacher, Melissa Gibbons, has this to say of our sports educators and what they bring to the school, “I believe currently we have a different coach every day, however there is consistency for the children as they have the same coach each week. The coaches run an hour and half with each year group.
After only 6 weeks, I feel unable to provide a testimonial. Progressing forward, I would like to consolidate our relationship and provision, hoping that TLE could become a part of our after school provision, lunchtime extra-curricular provision and sports sessions can be held in the afternoons.”
We are glad to have such a positive impact on the children within the school, and hope that they enjoy their time with us. We cannot wait to see what happens with this partnership, and what further expansions await us!
