North Cadbury Primary School Partnership
We really appreciate all of the schools who partner with us, so let’s get to know more about them and our partnership. Today we are looking at North Cadbury Primary School in the village of North Cadbury near Sparkford. North Cadbury is a mixed-phase rural primary school with a wide range of children. Some come with strong sporting backgrounds while others have had very little exposure to sport. The range of ability across the school is significant, so inclusive, well-structured provision is essential for them. We love being able to offer a day a week to help develop the sporting ability of all of the children from Nursery age to Year 6.
TLE and North Cadbury Primary School found each other through the school looking for support to help their staff in delivering high-quality sports provision. The school’s aim was to build key physical skills and a genuine love of sport in their pupils, while also systematically upskilling their support staff and teachers so the impact is long-term and sustainable.
Mr Gilby, Sam, is the usual sports educator who attends North Cadbury. He shared his feelings about the partnership saying, “North Cadbury is an amazing school. I have worked there over two years now and the support from all children and staff is wonderful. Every day is different in a great way, and it is a school I always look forward to working in.”
The Headteacher, Amy Truett, has this to say of our sports educators and what they bring to the school, “The coaches are an integral part of the school week. They run weekly PE sessions, working alongside class teaching assistants to model best practice and support staff development. In addition, they provide an after-school sports club one day each week, which has been very well received by pupils and families.
Working in partnership has had positive impact on our school. The coaching is inclusive and tailored to the wide range of abilities within our pupils. Support Staff confidence in delivering PE has grown and children are developing both skills and enthusiasm for sport. The after-school provision has further strengthened participation and enjoyment. We value the partnership highly and see it as a key part of our provision.”
We are glad to have such a positive impact on the children within the school, and hope that they enjoy their time with us. We cannot wait to see what happens with this partnership, and what further expansions awaits us!
